As "the ultimate lever gun" for over a century, the Winchester Model 1894 rifle holds a special place in the hearts of collectors. These "working guns" were not often ordered with special, extra cost features, making deluxe takedown variations highly sought after by collectors, especially those in high condition like this example. This Model 1894 is fitted with a dovetail Lyman blade front sight (bead absent) and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The left side of the barrel carries the two-line address/patent dates marking and the two-line nickel steel marking followed by "32 W.S." A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang has the three-line "MODEL 94" marking. The nicely figured deluxe walnut forearm and straight grip stock feature "H" style checkering. The underside of the stock has inlaid "RSM" initials. The right side of the upper tang is marked with the number "1" inside a triangle and the number "10." The stock inlet is unmarked.

Very fine, retaining 80% original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance, high edge wear, and cold blue visible on the takedown collar. The reoiled wood is fine with some minor handling marks and a few blemishes in the overall crisp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent.
