Description:

Manufactured in 1896, these New Army & New Navy revolvers, along with the Model 1889 Navy, were really the next evolutionary leap in Colt revolvers after the legendary Single Action Army and its Model 1877 and Model 1878 double action cousins. The New Army & New Navy revolvers were some of the first Colt revolvers to have a swing out cylinder, vastly increasing reloading speed. This example has the standard two-line address and patent marks on top of the barrel and "COLT D.A. 41" on the left. A circled Rampant Colt is marked on the left rear of the frame. The assembly number "994" is marked on the cylinder latch, frame, and crane. It is fitted with a blade front sight, frame top groove rear sight, and a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with ovals at the top that have Rampant Colts and "COLT/1894". Includes a rare factory box with correct labeling that is numbered to a different gun (90976). Provenance: The George S. Lewis Jr. Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 97% plus of the untouched, original nickel finish and 90% of the original nitre blue on small parts and screws with some scattered spots of very light flaking and spotting. The grips are also excellent with a few very light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
