Description:

These shotguns were originally manufactured as deluxe flintlock shotguns around 1800 and were subsequently professionally converted around the 1830s to percussion. They have nearly identical ornamentation. They are equipped with gold blade front sights with stylized gold inlaid spiders, "Canon Tordu" in gold inlay on the breech section of the rib, "MOSER" (left) and "IN MUNCHEN" signed on gold banners surrounded by gold scrollwork on the breech end of the barrels, dished rear sights on the standing breeches, gold borders and eagles with "MOSER" (right) and "IN MUNCHEN" (left) on the locks, silver mounts with serrated borders and acorn finials, and half-length stocks with checkering, raised relief borders, acorns, scroll patterns, double headed stag designs on the right sides, and downed/reposed stags on the left sides behind the cheekpieces.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine with bright original gold, distinct markings and designs, 75% case colors, attractive dark aged patina on the silver, absent swivel from the middle ramrod pipe, mottled gray and brown patina on the barrels, and general mild overall wear. The stock is very fine and has distinct carving and checkering, minor cracks and flakes at the lock mortises, minor crack in the grain at the knot on the right, and light storage marks. Mechanically fine.

Exceptionally fine with bright original gold, distinct markings and designs, 90% case colors, attractive dark aged patina on the silver, mottled gray and brown patina on the barrels, and general mild overall wear. The stock is very fine and has distinct carving and checkering, repairs on the forend, minor hairline cracks and tiny flakes at the edges of the lock mortises, and light storage marks. Mechanically fine.
