Description:

This bronze gun used a mug-shaped chamber like the breech-loading swivel cannons of old dating back to as early as the mid 14th century, and percussion ignition swivel guns based on the same basic design were still being used in combat into the 20th century mainly on vessels in Southeast Asia. Some may have been also used for launching harpoons for whaling, line throwing, and signaling. This impressive 20th century example is marked "M" on top of the tube, "XEP" to the right of the breech section, "X" on top of the breech section, and "XEP MKI" and "BLACK/POWDER/ONLY" on the removable powder chamber. It is fired using a musket sized nipple and a spring loaded firing pin. Includes a bronze yoke and stand. The overall length is 43 inches.

Rating Definition:

Good with dark aged patina on the metal throughout. Mechanically fine.
