This late 18th century flintlock double barrel pistol from W. Wagner in Haarlem, Netherlands, has side by side smoothbore barrels with a half-moon blade front sight on the rib which is engraved with floral and dot patterns, a dished standing breech with floral engraving, "W. WAGNER/A HAARLEM" signed on the rounded locks which feature frizzen rollers, double triggers, brass furniture with rococo style floral patterns in raised relief, a raised relief carved rococo scroll design around the upper tang, and silver wire inlays on the back of the wrist. Unusually, the left trigger is shorter than the right trigger indicating that this pistol was intended to be shot with the left hand. Very good with silver gray patina and mild pitting on the iron, attractive aged patina on the brass furniture, and general mild overall wear. The stock is fine and has crisp carving, minor flakes around the lock mortises, and some scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine.
