Manufactured in 1983, this Model 70 is a Limited Edition of 1,000 custom made Ultra Grade Featherweight bolt action rifle manufactured by the Winchester Model 21 Custom Shop. The barrel and receiver were specially selected for outstanding accuracy and performance. All components on this Ultra Grade rifle have been custom fitted and hand finished with individual attention to craftsmanship, detail and presentation. The receiver, tang, floor plate, trigger guard, bolt knob and grip cap have been very nicely leaf scroll engraved with a rams head on the floor plate and signed by the engraver, Bottega Giovauelli on the top left rear of the receiver. The muzzle has two gold bands around it and the right rear is marked "1 of 1,000" in gold. The receiver and floor plate feature simple gold inlaid bordering, The "WINCHESTER /-TRADE MARK-" on the left receiver wall is gold inlaid as well as the serial number on the right side of the receiver ring. Manufactured without sights and the receiver top is factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting. The bolt and follower are jeweled and the pistol grip stock is extra fancy, very finely figured select walnut with fine line checkering, Schnabel forend, red rubber Winchester recoil pad and sling swivel studs.
