This pistol was part of a final contract for the Portuguese Navy of which there are believed to have been approximately 50 or less delivered in the 6916w-6980w serial number range (reference pg. 416 of "The Mauser Parabellum 1930-1946" by Don R. Hallock and Joop van de Kant). These pistols saw extensive service until the 1970s with Portugal. This commercial Luger has a "41" dated chamber, the Mauser Banner logo on the toggle, and the proper commercial "eagle/N" proofs on the left of the receiver, left of the breech block, and on the front sight block. All the visible numbered components are matching including the aluminum base of the blue finished magazine, with unnumbered checkered walnut grip panels. This pistol has standard fixed sights with "SEGURANCA" marked safety area and "CARREGADA" marked extractor.

Fine, retains 60% arsenal refurbished blue finish with scattered nicks and scratches, smooth brown and gray patina on the balance, and sharp markings in the metal overall. 40% straw colors visible on small parts. Grips are also fine with some scratches and handling marks in the otherwise clear cut checkering. Mechanically excellent. This rare example of a Third Contract Portuguese Navy "41" date Mauser Banner Luger pistol would make a fine addition to any Luger collection!
