Description:

This particular Registered Magnum (reg. no. 588) has an extremely scarce 7 inch barrel. According to S&W historian Roy Jinks, only 72 Registered Magnums had 7 inch barrels. As confirmed by the included factory letter, the revolver was shipped on November 6, 1935, and delivered to J. Butcher & Son Inc. of Chicago, Illinois, with a 7 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, square notch rear sight, blue finish, and checkered walnut Magna grips. The accompanying registration certificate confirms the configuration as well as it being registered to R.V. Wise of Highland Park, Illinois. Other included related documents associated with this revolver: the purchase order on Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. letterhead, Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. letter to S&W requesting the removal of the grip adapter from the order, S&W letter to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. confirming shipment to J. Butcher & Sons, S&W order form with the handwritten notation to ship the revolver to J. Butcher & Sons, and S&W invoice. Comes with a correct S&W factory box, bore brush, "Caution" leaflet, and S&W guarantee leaflet. Provenance: The Dave Ballantyne Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% original blue finish with a light cylinder drag line and limited handling marks. 98% plus original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also excellent with a slight chip near the bottom (right panel), a few minor handling marks, and overall crisp checkering. The box is very fine. A well-documented, high condition 7 inch S&W .357 Registered Magnum revolver.
