Scarce Documented "Display Group" Prototype Serial Number "10.0012" Mauser Parabellum 29/70 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Box

This pistol is one of three well documented Mauser "Display Group" prototype Parabellum Luger pistols, being the highest numbered of the three. Originally a 1947 Swiss Ordonnanzpistolen 06/29 W+F (serial number P78220), this pistol was reworked by Mauser to approximate the configuration of what would become the Parabellum 29/70 during negotiations with Sam Cummings of Interarms in 1969. This specific pistol has appeared in several different publications, including on page 130 of John Walter's "Luger." Features fixed Swiss style blade front and notch rear sights. All control knobs are left smooth without checkering. The barrel is marked with an eagle/nitro" proof, toggle marked with "Original/Mauser banner" and eagle/nitro" proof. The left side of the extension is marked with "eagle/nitro" and "69" dated Ulm antler proofs. Frame marked "MAUSER PARABELLUM/Cal. .30 Parabellum" on the left, "Made In Germany" at the rear, and with the serial number on the right side. The extractor is marked "GELADEN" and safety marked "S." The front strap is marked "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. Oberndorf a. N." Fitted with a pair of Swiss style plain border checkered walnut grips. With original box, plastic display stand, takedown tool, cleaning rod, an issue of "Automatic Magazine" which features the pistol, a July 1986 issue of "Guns Magazine," and the collector's notes. There are few Mauser Parabellum 29/70 pistols that are as well documented as this. Provenance: The Klaus Meyer Collection

ConditionVery fine as factory reworked by Mauser, retaining 95% plus blue and straw finishes with some fading on the straw finished control surfaces and an attractive plum coloration to the side plate and slide. The box is very good with split seams. Mechanically excellent.
