Super RARE Brazilian Mauser with Mann Accuracy Test Barrel

This is an excellent example of an earlier production Brazilian Mauser action with a small diameter Mann accuracy test barrel installed. This rifle is identical in theory to what was typically used by the US Military from the early 1900s up the 1980's except we used a 1903 Springfield rifle action with a heavy weight barrel configuration. The barrels are referred to as MANN test barrels and were used at the various ammunition factories to test lot of production ammunition. These barrels have two bearing points on them that have been installed on a standard weight rifle barrel, where they are locked in a test fixture to ensure the same shot placement on the target so that the only variable (in theory) would be the ammunition dispersion on a shot to shot basis. This rifle was based on a used standard 1908 Brazilian Mauser manufactured at the ITAJUBA factory in Brazil. The side of the receiver is marked "FABRICA DE ITAJUBA, BRAZIL" and the receiver ring has the large Brazilian Crest on top. On the front face of each of the two large bearing points on the barrel it is marked "Mq .30 Aqo-GI" and the rear section of the barrel is marked "TURBO-MANN .30 FI / N03". It has a .30 caliber bore so we are assuming it was chambered in .30 caliber bore and the chamber is fairly long so we are assuming that this was for testing 30-06 ammunition, as Brazil converted many of their early Mauser contract rifles over to 30-06. The only other components attached to the rifle are an original Brazilian trigger guard, floorplate and bolt.

ConditionExcellent overall with 93% of a dark gray parkerized finish still remaining with most or all of the finish loss attributable to the wear on the floor plate and exposed trigger guard. Another very rare configuration of accuracy test barrel for the advance Mauser collector.
