The Model 1890 was the first slide-action rifle ever produced by Winchester and designed by John and Matthew Browning. The WRF cartridge was developed by Winchester specifically for the Model 1890. The Model 1890 was produced from 1890 to 1932. This rifle is a Third Model 1890 and the distinctive feature is the locking cut made at the front top of the receiver to allow the breech bolt to lock externally. Featuring a fixed front Marble sight, rear patent date 1901sight and Leyman combination rear sight on the wrist. Standard two line address and patent dates with tubular magazine, 12 groove slide handle and plain straight grip stock with a metal crescent buttplate. Winchester proofs on the barrel and receiver.

Good. 80% plus original blue remains on the barrel with only minor high point edge wear throughout. The magazine tube is a gray mottled patina with areas of minor spotting. Receiver retains 50% thinning blue with the balance gray. Wood is good with scattered minor dings and some spots of discoloration at the top of the stock. The buttplate is a gray patina. All markings remain sharp.
