Merwin Hulbert 2nd Model SA Revolver with open top frame, scoop cylinder flutes and bird's head butt with pointed extension and lanyard loop hole. The revolver has a nickel-plated finish with case-hardened hammer, trigger guard and barrel latch. The trigger is blued and the revolver is fitted with two-piece, black, hard rubber grips. The serial number, "772" is located on the right side of the grip extension. The assembly number "3" is stamped on the rear face of the cylinder, the front face of the barrel and the cylinder pin. The top of the barrel is marked with the Merwin & Hulbert name, address and early '74-'77 patent dates in one line. The left side of the barrel is marked with the Hopkins & Allen name and address. The right side of the frame below the cylinder is roll-stamped with the designation: "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873".
