OD - VERY GOOD- all original parts; none to 30% original finish; original metal surfaces smooth with all edges sharp; clear lettering, numerals and design on metal; wood slightly scratched or bruised.

Description:

One of approximately 5,000 Cartridge Carbines produced by Starr Arms Company of Yonkers, New York. This carbine is a 52 caliber rimfire, single shot with a falling blockbreech mechanism. The lock is marked "STARR ARMS CO. / YONKERS, N.Y." and the upper tang is marked "STARRS PATENT / SEPT. 14TH 1858. The top of the barrel in front of the rear sight is marked "STARR ARMS X YOUNKERS N.Y.", the serial number appears on the right rear at the breech and "S.T.B." on the opposite. Fixed front and two leaf rear sights, saddle ring and staple mounted on the left rear of the receiver and smooth forearm and straight grips stock with a steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The metal parts have a dark mottled smooth patina with some minor pitting on the breech end of the barrel. The wood has been revarnished and remains very good with a couple of minor gouges on the stock and overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
