Model 1840 Emerson & Silver Civil War Non-Commissioned Officer's Sword

Civil War M1840 NCO Sword manufactured in 1863. The sword is complete with a blued steel scabbard with brass throat and drag. The32- inch straight, fullered blade marked 'EMERSON/&/SILVER/TRENTON/NJ" in four lines on the reverse ricasso and is stamped with the property mark, inspector's initials and date ("U.S./DFM/1863") on the obverse. The cast brass hilt has a grip with cast wire wrap and a double, kidney shaped, counter guard. The "DFM" Ordnance inspector's mark is stamped on the left side of the knuckle bow and the scabbard drag.

ConditionFine. The blade is bright and the ricasso markings are sharp. The scabbard body has 80% of the original blue finish. The brass drag has a number of dents and small scratches.
