Regulation Civil War M1860 Light Cavalry Saber with 34 5/8 - inch round back blade, brass three branch hilt and iron scabbard with two suspension rings. The grips have a leather cover with twisted, brass, wire wrap. The obverse ricasso has a faint "U.S." property mark and the reverse has an illegible marker's mark. An illegible inspector's mark is stamped on top of the brass pommel. A rack number, "47" is stamped on the guard behind the grip. A "JCW" inspector's mark is stamped on the scabbard drag.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade is bright with scattered age discoloration and no pitting. The hilt has not been polished and the brass has a mellow age patina. The leather grip cover and wire wrap appear to be original. The scabbard is in good condition with dark age patina and scattered light pitting.
