The letter further states this revolver was shipped 17 February 1943 to the transportation officer at Raritan Arsenal, Nixon, New Jersey, in a shipment of 2,007 guns. The revolver has the Colt blue commercial finish, half-moon front blade sight, square notch rear sight. The sides of the hammer are polished. The top of the frame is matted and serrated. The hammer and trigger are checkered. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line Colt Hartford address with 1884, 1905 and 1926 patent dates. The model designation and caliber: "OFFICIAL / POLICE" flanked by "COLT" and "38-SPECIAL" are located on the left side of the barrel. The Colt "VP/Triangle" proofmark is located on the left side of the trigger guard. The rampant Colt trademark is stamped on the left side of the frame behind the cylinder latch and an ordnance bomb is marked above the cylinder latch. Matching serial numbers marked on the frame and crane. Fitted with checkered grips with silver Colt medallions.
