Description:

Manufactured from 1861 to 1865, this 32 caliber variation was manufactured by William P. Uhlinger with the machinery he purchased from William Hankins in 1861 so Hankins could go into business with Christian Sharps. This revolver has a blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated iron frame and casehardened hammer. The top barrel flat is marked "D.D. CONE WASHINGTON D.C.". D.D. Cone was one of four names Uhlinger used to avoid detection by Smith & Wesson, because these revolvers were an infringement of the Rollin White patent owned by Smith & Wesson. Ironically, Cone was a patent attorney. The ejector rod is mounted under the barrel and removed to eject the shell, German silver blade front sight, frame notch rear, spur trigger, six round cylinder and smooth two piece rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Period refinished/refurbished. The barrel has been refinished and retains most of the finish with some thinning and scratches finished over. The cylinder retains approximately 50% of the thin blue finish mixed with smooth gray patina. The frame retains approximately 90% of the silver with minor flaking with oxidation around the cylinder, flaking in the ejector rod channel and minor flaking on the toe and heel with the butt worn to gray with some minor pitting. The grips are fine with most of the original varnish and a few minor dings and nicks. The action is fine.
