Description:

Manufactured between 1863 and 1865; total quantity made estimated at about 32,000. This was a major model of revolving handgun bought by the U.S. Government in the Civil War period. Originally blue with case hardened hammer and lever. Six shot unfluted cylinder with the nipples partially protruding from the back section. Blade front sight and hammer groove rear sight. Standard "STARR. ARMS. CO. NEW. YORK." address on left side of frame, "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. The right side has a breakdown screw that allows the cylinder to be removed in a matter of seconds. Cylinder is stamped "39758" and also has other acceptance marks. An inspector cartouche is located on the left side of the one piece walnut grip but it has faded and is not legible.

Rating Definition:

Good with original metal surfaces smooth and turning to a brown patina. Some spotting on barrel and frame. Grips are very good with a faint cartouche and only a few minor mars from handling. Mechanically fine.
