Manufactured from the mid 1860s to about 1872, these revolvers in earlier years were called the "Model of 1853" and are now more correctly called the "Pocket Model of Navy Caliber" or just "Pocket Navy". This model has always been among the scarcer of the Colt percussion revolvers and even scarcer with London barrel marking as this revolver features. The London revolvers were made at the Hartford factory for sale in their London office in a very limited production run. As stated, this revolver features "ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON" marked on the top barrel flat. The left side of the barrel lug is marked with "crown / GP" and "crown / V" proofmarks with "crown /V" and "crown / P" proofs alternating near the cylinder stops. The left side of the frame is unmarked but appears to have been cleaned at one time, possibly erasing any markings. The left shoulder of the trigger guard is marked "36 CAL". The 5-shot rebated cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene and marked "COLT'S PATENT / N0. 7360" and the matching serial number is marked on the barrel and trigger guard with a "L", frame, and backstrap. The loading lever is unmarked and the wedge is very tight and the writer did not want to force it out to check for a number. The barrel and cylinder were blue. The frame, loading lever and hammer were casehardened and the iron trigger guard and backstrap blued. Brass post front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted with smooth walnut grips.
