Description:

This pistol is an example of an assembled Hopkins and Allen target pistol by The Marlin Firearms Corporation and is identical to the Hopkins and Allen target pistol that was introduced in 1913. Marlin began to assemble these pistols in 1922. Like the Hopkins & Allen pistol, it has a 10 inch barrel and single action. The top break mechanism and ejector system were identical to those of the Hopkins and Allen Safety Police revolver. Blue finish, adjustable rear sight, Lyman bead front sight blade and fitted with checkered plastic grips. The top of the barrel is marked "The Marlin Firearms Corp. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.". Matching serial number on the front grip strap, and bottom of the monoblock, with barrel underside marked "3368". This serial number is probably a Hopkins and Allen number that was already stamped onto the parts when Marlin assembled the pistol. This is certainly a rare piece and most desirable item for the Marlin pistol collector.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with approximately 95% of the original blue finish with some light thinning on the barrel sides and some moderate tool marks near the muzzle on the right side. The trigger guard has started to turn a mottled gray patina. The grips are very good with some minor to moderate bottom edge wear and some minor scratches overall. The checkering is sharp. The markings are clear.
