Description:

This is an excellent example of a complete General Officer's ensemble the includes his original issue, unaltered Colt U.S. contract Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless Semi-Automatic Pistol, with black general officers holster, his dress blue uniform with medals and ribbons. Brigadier General Floyd Radike had a long and distinguished military career starting in March 1933 where he enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard. In March 1940 he was called to active duty and was appointed as a Second Lieutenant in July 1942, serving in the Philippines during WWII. He remained on active duty until April 1946 and rejoined the Michigan National Guard in 1949 until he retired in Oct 1975. During his career he was awarded the Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, Combat Infantry badge, Philippine Liberation medal with Battle Star, Asiatic Pacific Theatre medal with three Battle Stars, WWII Victory medal and Distinguished Service Medal. Brigadier General Radike passed away in Oct 2000. Additionally Brigadier General Radike authored a book entitled "ACROSS THE DARK ISLANDS" The War in the Pacific, which chronicled his experienced during WWII and which a copy of, accompanies this grouping. This lot includes has his original issue late production Colt Model 1903 pistol in 32 ACP, his original issue black leather holster, along with the General's full dress blue uniform; coat (with medals and ribbons), GO shoulder boards, pants, garrison hat and brass GO belt buckle. The pistol is a late production version with the original Colt parkerized finish and is fitted with checkered walnut grips with German Silver Colt medallions. The slide is fitted with the later pattern square rear sight and seriated front sight. The right side of the frame is marked: "U.S. PROPERTY" above the trigger. The left side is stamped with a small partial Ordnance Corps escutcheon behind the safety lock, with the serial number, "569834" located above the trigger. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt two line Hartford address and 1897 and 1903 patent dates. The Rampant Colt trademark is stamped behind the slide serrations. The right side of the slide is marked: "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines. It is complete with one blued Colt magazine marked, "Cal 32 AUTO" on the base plate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, the pistol retains 99% of it's original Colt parkerized finish, the grips are also in very good condition with no cracks or damage, showing light wear from handling and being in the holster. Mechanically excellent. The complete uniform, medals, ribbons and book are all in excellent condition. An excellent GO grouping of a distinguished officer.
