Description:

This is an example of a U.S. Colt Model 1917, which features a blade front sight with a frame notch rear, wartime brush blue finish with bright hammer sides and smooth two-piece oiled walnut grips. The top of the barrel has the two line Hartford address and 1884-1905 patent dates. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT D.A. 45" with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the bottom. The butt is marked "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL / 1917" ahead of the lanyard loop and "No / 88 / 122" behind it. The Rampant Colt trademark is located on the left side of the frame behind the cylinder latch with the final inspector's monogram "S20" stamped on the upper left corner of the frame.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% of original military blue remaining with some slight wear underneath the cylinder lock, on the trigger, back grip strap and on the muzzle. The grips are excellent with some minor scratches overall and a couple of light nicks at the bottom. Mechanically excellent.
