Description:

Manufactured by John Shuler of Liverpool, Pa. in the early 1800s. The rifle features superposed barrels that revolve, each having it's own bolster, nipple and iron sights. Both barrels are rifled. One side of the barrels has a solid rib while the other side accommodates the wooden ramrod. The top of each barrel flat is marked "JOHN SHULER / LIVERPOOL PA". The ducks in a marsh scene engraved lock is marked "Henry Parker / Warranted". The brass side plate, patch box and lower buttplate tang are engraved. The buttstock is maple with a brass trigger guard and crescent buttplate and double set triggers.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrels have a crisp brown patina with a few patches of smooth gray patina. The hammer has a smooth dark patina and the lock plate has a smooth gray patina with smooth dark patina along the edges. Overall, the brass has a smooth aged patina with some dark spotting. The stock is fine with some minor dings, dents and scratches and a minor scuff marked. There is a large chip near the lock plate. The action functions, but the hammer does not hold at the half cock position. The engraving is mostly clear and the markings are legible.
