Description:

This pistol has the Model 1816 pattern stock and barrel and 1841 dated lock plate with mostly illegible stamping forward of hammer with "C.S." marking. (writer believes this to be spurious). The front strap has the double band and the backstrap extends to the buttcap. The ramrod is hickory with a swelled tip and is absent of the threaded metal ferrule on the other end. All iron mountings and brass flash pan. The barrel is marked "P" and "US", the lock markings in front of the hammer are covered by moderate pitting and behind the hammer is marked "MIDDTN / CONN / 1841".

Rating Definition:

Fair as assembled. The metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina with overall scattered minor to moderate pitting. The flash hole is mis-aligned, too far forward of the pan. The stock has been sanded and shows a filled repair at the lower rear of the lock, some gouges on the left side at the rear of the barrel and along the barrel tang and overall scattered minor dings and handling marks. The hammer and spring screws are replacements and the forward left side plate screw extends through the lock plate. The trigger moves freely and the hammer is locked in the cock position. The visible markings are clear.
