This is a nice example of a US marked Model 12 training rifle in 22 LR. These were one of the last full-size .22 target rifles purchased by the U.S. Army in the late 1970s and early 1980s. These rifles feature a 28 inch bull barrel that is marked on top "HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON INC./GARDNER MASS. MADE IN U.S.A./22 LR". The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S." above the serial number. The barrel is drilled and tapped for target scope blocks, which are still installed, however it does not include the target iron sights or bases. The target stock is walnut-stained hardwood fitted with an H&R brown rubber butt pad, and rear sling swivels with a full length accessory rail in the forend. It is complete with a 9X32 power BSA Platinum target scope and rings with a standard cross-hair reticule with a dot.

Excellent overall, with 97% original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots, the front edge of the muzzle and on the bolt handle. The stock is in very good to excellent condition showing a nice honey yellow color with minor handling marks on the sides and pistol grip area with a small chip in the very front edge of the forend. The scope retains 99% of it's blued finish and has nice clear sharp optics. This would make an excellent starter rifle or beginning bench rest rim fire rifle.
