J.D. McKahan Marked Percussion Heavy Barrel Rifle

Brass blade front and notch rear sights, with "J.D. McKAHAN" marked on the top flat and "J.D. McKAHAN/ WARRANTED/ CAST STEEL" on the lockplate, with a small area of scroll engraving near one of the pins. Smooth hammer and double set trigger with brass handrest trigger guard. Smooth straight grip tiger stripe walnut stock with brass tip, wood ramrod, 3 brass pipes, 4-piece patchbox and a brass butt.

ConditionVery good. The barrel shows a mixed brown and gray patina, brighter on the sides and high edges, with a number of dings. Pitting on the lock, concentrated around the nipple. Stock is very fine, with some pressure dents and excellent grain. Mechanically very good.
