Two Moore's Patent Firearms Co. Single Action Belt Revolvers

A) Moore's Patent Firearms Co. Single Action Belt Revolver Made for Smith & Wesson

Manufactured from 1861 to 1863. The top barrel flat is marked "MANFD FOR SMITH & WESSON BY MOORE'S PAT. FIRE ARMS CO." Silver plated frame, trigger guard, recoil shields, butt and backstrap. Checkered hammer, brass blade front sight and notch rear sight. Fitted with square butt, smooth walnut grips.

ConditionGood with the metal surfaces exhibiting a smooth dark brown patina. The brass retains some moderate amounts of silver plating (approximately 20%), mostly around the trigger guard area and butt with the balance having an even aged patina. The grips are very good with some minor scratches and a couple of minor nicks and a hand rubbed finish. The marking is legible. The engraving is clear and crisp. The action is fine. From the Will Hoffeld collection, purchased from Dean Williams in 1998.

B) Moore's Patent Firearms Co. Single Action Belt Revolver

Described in A with a 5 inch barrel.

ConditionFine with the metal surfaces exhibiting a dark patina with scatter pitting on the barrel. The brass retains approximately 85% of the original silver plating with an aged patina on the exposed areas. There are large areas of deep scuff marks on the right grip, otherwise the grips are fine with numerous minor pressure dents. The cylinder rotates freely, otherwise the action is fine. The engraving and marking are crisp and clear. From the Will Hoffeld collection, purchased from K. Hanson in 1998.
