A) Moore Patent Belt Revolver

Description:

Manufactured from 1861 to 1863. The top of the barrel is marked "D. MOORE.PATENT.SEPT. 18. 1860". Decorative broad scroll engraving on the silver plated brass frame, trigger guard, recoil shields, butt and backstrap. Serrated hammer, brass bead front sight, fixed iron rear sight and hammer notch sight. Seven shot cylinder with ejector rod missing. Barrel and cylinder swing to right for loading.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina with a few minor dings. The brass has a dark aged patina with strong original thin silver plating on the front sides. The grips are fair with a small chip on each toe and several minor dents and dings with a hand rubbed patina. The barrel marking is faint with an added fixed rear iron sight. The engraving is crisp. The barrel does not break to the right. The action is fine. Purchased at John Gangle Fair Show and from the Will Hoffeld collection.

Description:

Described in A with a 5 inch barrel, no barrel mounted rear sight and has the removable ejector rod under the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel has a smooth brownish patina with a few minor dings. The cylinder has a smooth gray patina. The frame retains approximately 60% original silver plating with the exposed brass have an aged patina. The barrel assembly is loose. The grips are fair with a crude "MH" carved into the bottom of the left panel, rounded corners and scattered minor dings and dents. The barrel marking is clear, the engraving is crisp and the action is fine. Purchased from Doug Janke in 1982 and from the Will Hoffeld collection.
