Description:

Produced between 1862 and 1867 by Bitterlich & Legler, a partnership operating out of Nashville, Tennessee. As Legler was a later addition to the firm, the later stamping of the "& Co" and "& LEGLER" markings is proper for earlier production arms. Brass blade and notch sights, with "FR. J. BITTERLICH & LEGLER/ NASHVILLE, TENN" on the top flat. Light border engraving is present on the tang, breech, hammer and lock, with "FR. J. BITTERLICH & CO/ NASHVILLE, TENN" on the latter. Silver escutcheon on the underside, with silver trigger guard, reverse plate and buttcap. Checkered square butt stock with a carved Schnabel tip and a small silver shield escutcheon on top.

Rating Definition:

Fine. A crisp brown and gray patina is visible on the barrel, with brighter gray along the high edges. A darker patina is visible on the lock and hammer, with a barely noticeable small chip absent from the internal left side of the hammer tip, and a lighter patina on the breech and in the lower areas. The stock is very fine, with varnish loss along the high areas and scattered light pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
