The top barrel flat is marked "--AMERICAN MUZZLE LOADING REVOLVER PATENT NEW-YORK--", "crown / triple letter" and "crown / N" proofs are marked on the left side near the wedge and "crown / R" proof and an inspector's mark is stamped on the right side above the wedge. The cylinder is engraved with a sailing ship scene with an inspector's mark over the "ELG" in an oval proof and "NEW SYSTEM". "Crown / N" and "crown / triple letter" proofs alternate between the nipples. The bottom barrel flat is marked with the "serial number / crossed key proof / crown/N proof / crossed key proof / crown/triple letter proof / cross key proof / 37". The left side of the frame is marked "PATENT / SYSTEM", "35 CAL" is marked on the left side of the trigger guard and an inspector's mark is stamped on the right side of the frame. Matching serial number on the wedge, loading lever, backstrap, barrel, frame and trigger guard. An un-matching number "9336" is stamped on the cylinder. Brass bead front sight and hammer notch rear sight, iron round trigger guard and backstrap, percussion shield cut-out with the capping groove and fitted with one-piece smooth grips.
