A) Colt Brevete Model 1849 Pocket Revolver

The top flat at the breech is marked "COLT / PATENT" and the left barrel flat is marked with a "crown / R" proof and a "crown / A3". The cylinder is engraved with the Stagecoach Holdup scene with a "crown / R" proof and a Liege "ELG" in an oval proof and the face is marked with the "JS" combination initial found on N. Gilon made revolvers. Matching serial number on barrel, frame and trigger guard. The barrel and cylinder were blued, the lever, hammer and frame were casehardened.

ConditionGood, with the metal surfaces exhibiting a smooth gray patina. There is some pin prick pitting. The cylinder engraving is mostly clear. The smooth aged brass retains slight traces of silver in the protected areas. The re-varnished grips are very good with some minor handling marks. The action functions, but is very stiff. B) Brevete Model 1849 Pocket Revolver

The top flat at the breech is marked "COLT / BREVETE" and the left side of the barrel lug is marked with "crown / D" proof. Unmarked plain 6-shot cylinder and silver plated brass square trigger guard and backstrap. Serial number on barrel with the initials "JF" marked on the trigger guard. The barrel and cylinder were blued, the lever, hammer and frame were casehardened. Finished with a smooth one-piece walnut grips.

ConditionVery good. The barrel retains slight traces of blue in the protected areas mixed with a silver mottled patina. The frame, loading lever, hammer and cylinder exhibit a silver mottled patina. The cylinder exhibits a large collection of minor nicks. The brass retains slight traces of silver plating in the protected areas. The left grip is crudely carved with the name "EVANS" and a tally of 10 notches are crudely carved on the left, otherwise the grips are good with some minor handling marks. The action is good.
