Description:

Rock Island Arsenal Model 15 General Officers Pistol, belt, gold-plated belt buckle, holster and magazine pouch with spare magazines. This pistol was issued to Major General William R.Todd and was purchased by him in April 1982. General Todd's final assignment was Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, U.S. Army, Europe. The RIA designed and manufactured the Model 15 General Officer Pistol as a replacement for the obsolete Colt .32 ACP Model M General Officer Pistol. The RIA manufactured a total of 1004 Model 15 Pistols between 1972 and 1981. The Model 15 is a modified Colt Model 1911A1 Pistol with shortened slide and National Match barrel. The slide is fitted with a high profile, fixed, rear sight and ramp front sight. The frame has an aluminum National Match trigger and checkered grip strap. The checkered walnut National Match stocks have a sliver name plate inlaid in the left stock and a RIA medallion inlaid in the right stock. The pistol has a matted finish on the sights and top of the slide and a high polish blue finish on the sides of the slide and frame. The barrel is nickel-plated. The right side of the frame is marked: "Serial No. GO 298" and the right side of the slide is marked "General Officer Model/RIA" in two lines. The name plate on the left stock of this pistol is engraved: "W.R. TODD". The pistol is complete with three magazines that are electro-penciled with the serial number, "289". Included with the pistol are MG Todd's black leather pistol belt with three-piece, gold-plated buckle, holster and magazine pouch. The group is complete with the government bill of sale, DD 1348 issue form, an official photograph of MG Todd and a copy of his official biography.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The pistol retains at least 99% of the original blue finish with some minor edge wear and thinning on the slide and front of the frame. The balance of the pistol has nearly all of the original high polish blue finish. There are six notches neatly filed in lower portion of the main spring housing. The stocks are in excellent condition. The belt, holster and magazine are in excellent condition with very minor handling wear. This is a rare and fully documented example of a RIA Model 15 General Officers Pistol with belt, holster, magazines and all of the documentation that originally accompanied the pistol.
