Description:

This is a good example of a super scarce Mauser M712 fully automatic Broomhandle pistol. These pistols were developed in the late 1930s based on the 1930 designed Broomhandle pistols that were fully automatic and which featured a detachable box magazine. The majority of these pistols were sold to China with some commercial sale to Yugoslavia and Europe. A few thousand were also used by the early Nazi SS troopers. This specific pistol is actually a second pattern M712 that uses the "Westinger" patented selective fire mechanism. The top of the chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF YN" and there is a single Crown over "U" proof on the left side below those markings. Directly below the crown U proof is a serial number 45744, which is probably in a mid-production Chinese contract serial number. The right side of the lower trigger housing group is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A. NECKAR/D.R.P.u.A.P." and the left side has the "MAUSER" banner logo with the correct style selector switch. The rear sight is graduated from 50-1000 meters. It has the standard 10 ribbed walnut grips with a lanyard ring on the end of the butt. It is complete with one detachable magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fair with most of a rearsenal type dipped blue finish. The markings are still clear however there are several areas of fine pin-prick pitting on the side under the blue finish. The grips are in fair condition showing considerable wear from use. The upper receiver group and lower group do not have matching serial numbers. Regardless this is still a very scarce contract Mauser pistol. Mechanically needs work.
