Description:

Manufactured in 1863. This revolver was subsequently nickel plated, probably by Hartley & Grahm, a well known outfitter of the time. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line New York address, "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame, and inspector letter stampings on both sides of the barrel lug, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder. All serial numbers match including the wedge and the cylinder is roll engraved with the naval battle scene. The three screw frame is cut for a stock. Fitted with a smooth one piece grip with a very faint cartouche on each side.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as period retailer plated. The revolver retains approximately 85% nickel finish with some heavy flaking mostly concentrated on the barrel lug , hammer, cylinder and near the muzzle. The cylinder retains most of the engraving. The wedge does not fit properly. The reoiled grip is fine with some mild dings and scratches mostly on the bottom. Mechanically fine.
