Pre-War Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1908. This revolver features fixed blade front and frame notch rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line Hartford address, "38 W.C.F." on the left side of the barrel and the two line, three patent date marking followed by the circled "Rampant Colt" on the left side of the frame. The frame and hammer are casehardened and the remaining surfaces are blue. The serial number is stamped on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap, with the assembly number "3851" on the loading gate. Fitted with fancy checkered walnut grips with Rampant Colt medallions at the top of each panel, scalloped edges and diamond patterns. Complete with factory letter confirming configuration and stating this revolver was shipped to Montgomery Ward & Company, Chicago, IL on the 17th of August 1908.

ConditionFine. The revolver has approximately 30% finish aged to a smooth gray patina intermixed with a spotty brown patina. There are traces of original blue in the protected areas such as the cylinder flutes. The cylinder also shows some small areas of pin prick pitting. The frame shows shadows of case colors and a smooth gray patina overall with some bright colors in protected areas. The replacement grips are fine with a few light handling marks and dings. Mechanically excellent.
