Manufactured from 1961 to 1964 with a heavy barrel and equipped with a Lyman 77H front globe sight and receiver mounted Lyman peep sight. The left side of the receiver ring is marked "22 LONG RIFLE" over the serial number. The left receiver side wall is marked "Remington / MODEL 40-X" the right rear side of the barrel is marked with the typical Remington barrel proofs and the left side is marked with the barrel date-lot code marking "A W 68". There is a scope target block mounted on the barrel and rear of the receiver and the front receiver ring is drilled and tapped. Adjustable serrated trigger and mounted with the standard heavy pistol grip walnut target-style stock with the accessory rail and hand stop, sling swivels and a black rubber "WHITE - LINE" marked buttplate.
