Custom Engraved Gold Inlaid Bertuzzi Superposed Chuck Yeager Shotgun with Case

This limited edition, handmade Chuck Yeager shotgun is made in the custom gunshop of the Bertuzzi Brothers, commissioned by the United States Historical Society. The brothers specialize almost exclusively in Holland & Holland first quality style shotguns and accept only limited numbers of special commissions. The receiver is hand engraved and decorated in 24 karat gold inlays, with intricate scrolls and the right side has the insignia of the U.S. Air Force. The thirteen stars around the insignia, "YEAGER" and a WWII P51 Mustang fighter plane are all inlaid in gold. The left side has Chuck Yeager's portrait, the B29 mother ship, "Glamorous Glennis X-1" that he flew to break the sound barrier and the date "14 OCT 1947" inlaid in gold. The bottom of the receiver has gold inlaid Double Eagles, a hallmark of the U.S. Historical Society and the individual registry number, in this case "36/100", is hand engraved in gold on the bottom of the trigger guard. The top of the receiver and the break lever are engraved with complex Florentine scrolls in the Baroque style. The left side rear of the barrel is marked "MADE BY FLLI BERTUZZI ITALY" (name in gold) and the right side is marked "FOR US HISTORICAL SOCIETY". The shotgun features a single brass bead on the vent rib, 2 3/4" chambers with ejectors, a single trigger and tang mounted safety/selector. Mounted with the European select, hand-checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock, with a checkered bare butt. The length of pull is 14 1/2". The shotgun is complete in custom designed fine leather case with red velvet lining, a gold embossed leather Chuck Yeager plaque on the inside of the lid, 5 choke tubes and a choke wrench. Also accompanying the shotgun is a U.S. Historical Society letter dated December 13, 1989, acknowledging the advance reservation for the Chuck Yeager shotgun and a copy of the book "Yeager: An Autobiography by General Chuck Yeager and Leo Janos". Only 100 of these master handcrafted, gold inlaid shotguns were made.
