Manufactured in 1956, this 44 Hand Ejector Fourth Model of 1950 Target revolver is fitted with the rare and desirable 4" barrel. Although the Smith & Wesson catalog listed the 44 Hand Ejector Fourth Model as only available in a 6" barrel, Smith & Wesson did make limited quantities of 4, 5 and 5 1/2 inch barrel lengths. This revolver has the standard barrel and right side frame markings, has a five screw frame, raised ramp front sight, adjustable rear target sight, blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger and fitted with checkered walnut grips with silver S&W medallions. The accompanying factory letter gives a history of the 44 Hand Ejector and verifies the serial number, 4 inch barrel and blue finish, and that it was shipped to Gopher Shooters Supply, Faribult, Minnesota on October 19, 1956.
