Description:

Manufactured in the early 1860s with total quantity estimated at 300. Production of this model was cut short due to Smith & Wesson's infringement action on their control of the Rollin White bored-through-cylinder patent. This revolver has an unusual design: the trigger guard unscrews, acting as lock for center pins (cylinder must be removed for loading). Blade front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The barrel is faintly marked "BACON MFG. CO. NORWICH, CONN." The sides of the frame feature a scroll engraving. The backstrap is inscribed: "J.C. Parmenter From his bother clerks / Merrimac St. Lowell" (possibly referring to the Office of the City Clerk on Merrimak Street in Lowell, Massachusetts). Fitted with smooth walnut grips. Complete with a hardwood partitioned case lined with deep purple velvet.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver has been cleaned bright with some mild pitting contained to the barrel and overall minor handling marks. The grips are fine with the exception of some minor pressure dents on the bottom of the right panel and some minor dings and scratches overall. The frame engraving is clear and crisp. The backstrap engraving is weak, but legible. Mechanically fine. The case is very fine with some minor handling marks overall and a couple small cracks on the lid. The otherwise fine original lining shows some minor wear and some minor fading.
