This Colt Government Model pistol was manufactured in 1914. The pistol has the commercial blue finish, blued barrel with polished chamber, checkered walnut stocks and two-tone magazine. The rear sight is the early rounded pattern. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" and the left side has the 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the Colt Hartford address in a two-line block. The Rampant Colt trademark is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL/C 11674" in two lines behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "VP/Triangle" proof mark and a "J" assemblers mark. The right side of the slide is engraved with a non-factory inscription: "G.N.B.-HERRICK/49th Bn CANADA" in two lines.
