This Colt Government Model pistol was manufactured in 1914. The pistol has the commercial blue finish, blued barrel with polished chamber, checkered walnut stocks and two-tone magazine. The rear sight is the early rounded pattern. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" and the left side has the 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the Colt Hartford address in a two-line block. The Rampant Colt trademark is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL/C 11674" in two lines behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "VP/Triangle" proof mark and a "J" assemblers mark. The right side of the slide is engraved with a non-factory inscription: "G.N.B.-HERRICK/49th Bn CANADA" in two lines.

Very fine. The pistol retains approximately 90% of the bright original high polish blue finish mixed with one barely noticeable area of refinish. There is light finish wear on the grip strap and moderate holster wear on the muzzle and upper edges of the slide. There is some scattered pitting on the right side of the frame in front of the trigger guard. The pitted portion of the frame has been re-finished. The stocks are in very fine condition with some screw-driver marks on the screws. The magazine is in good condition with a dark blue brown patina. This is a sound example of a Colt Government model with Canadian Military inscription.
