Description:

This rifle was manufactured in 1869 and has the desirable two-line Henry's patent and King's improvement patent marking on the barrel ahead of the notch and folding ladder rear sight that points to the Winchester Model 1866 as the descendant of the famous Henry lever action rifle of the Civil War. The two models were widely used in the American West following the Civil War and were relied upon for both putting meat on the table and combat, including in battles between Native Americans and the U.S. Army as well as by frontiersmen staking out new lives for their families in the West.

Rating Definition:

Good with a genuine "frontier issued" appearance consisting of a some original blue finish in the protected areas and otherwise smooth dark brown patina on barrel and magazine, worn but legible Henry and King patent markings, attractive aged patina the brass along with a series of dings on right side plate, revarnished wood with dowel repairs on the buttstock, and moderate overall wear typical of a gun that saw many years of use on the frontier. Mechanically functions.
