Manufactured in 1936 and subsequently beautifully custom engraved by Howard Grant. Grant is known for his intricate detailed and beautifully executed scrollwork which is very evident in every detail on this shotgun. The realism in the scenes is remarkable. The muzzles are decorated with a band of oval designed followed by a 2 1/2 inch wedge of floral scroll engraving with a matte border. The breech ends have a 3 inch scene of ducks flying amid clouds on the left side and two large trees with clouds overhead on the right side. The left side of the action is entirely engraved with intricate and finely detailed scenes of a hunter on a grassy lake shore with his dog returning a downed duck with ducks flying over the lake and overhead, with clouds overhead on the left side and a field scene of a hunter scaring up pheasants, again with clouds overhead that cover the top of the action. The bottom of the action has a wooded scene of a hunting dog scaring up grouses. Directly ahead of the trigger guard is a banner which reads "ENGR BY H.V. GRANT". The detail in these scenes is unbelievable, the likes that this writer has never seen. The break lever is a skeletonized flying duck and it is engraved with ducks flying amid clouds on top. The upper tang, trigger guard, around the trigger, grip cap and two-piece buttplate are nicely engraved with floral scroll designs. The forearm knuckle is engraved with a finely detailed forest scene and the release lever hardware is floral scroll engraved. The tops of the barrels at the breech end have the standard markings, flats are Winchester proofed and marked "MOD" and "CYL" choked. There are double ivory bead sights on the solid matte rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, with ejectors. Mounted with a nicely figured dark grain walnut Fluer-de-Lis checkered semi-beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock with metal Winchester grip cap and checkered bare butt between the two-piece buttplate.

Professionally embellished, in near mint condition with only light handling/storage marks. A beautiful, masterfully engraved Model 21 that has to be seen to be truly appreciated.
