Ithaca began reproducing these classic double barrel shotguns in 1998 and ended production in 2003. The serial number range started at 470,000. This particular example is the only grade 4ES three barrel set made. All three sets of barrels are 28 inches in length, with double ivory bead sights on the wide, concave matte solid rib. The top of the right barrel is marked "ITHACA CLASSIC DOUBLES" and the left "VICTOR, NEW YORK U.S.A.". The underside is marked "KRUPP STEEL", they are numbered to the gun and are numbered "1", "2" and "3". Numbers "1" and "2" are both 28 gauge, 2 3/4 inch chambers, with number "1" chokes marked ".015" and ".008" and number 2 "SK1" and "SK2". The 410, number "3" has 3 inch chambers and chokes marked ".010" and ".002". All are equipped with ejectors. Number "2 and "3" have an extra fancy, nicely figured checkered walnut splinter forearm with ebony forend insert, lightly engraved hardware, each numbered to the gun and marked with the gauge it goes with, (#3 "410" and #1 "28/I"). The second set of 28 gauge barrels has a beaver tail forearm with the same features of the others and is marked "28/II". The barrel flats of the 28 gauge barrels are also marked "I" and "II" respectively behind the serial number. The box lock action is engraved with broad floral scroll designs with a flying "ruffled grouse" in a wooded scene on the left side, a pheasant in a wooded scene on the right and woodcock in a wooded scene on the bottom. The bottom is also engraved "CLASSIC DOUBLES" above the scene and "VICTOR NY" underneath the scene. The name "SPICER" is engraved just to the right of the triggers. The water table is marked "28/.410", "4ES" and "MADE IN USA". The action and break lever are casehardened, with blue on the remaining parts. Hand tuned locks, double gold plated triggers, tang mounted safety and mounted with an extra fancy, nicely figured checkered English walnut straight grip stock, with dark streaking, checkered flats, and checkered bare butt. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches. The set is complete in a custom Italian made canvas covered three barrel set takedown case that has leather straps, handle and corner protectors. The lining is green wool with a leather gold embossed "Ithaca/CLASSIC DOUBLES/Fine Sporting Arms" label affixed to the inside of the lid.

Near new with only the slightest handling/storage marks overall. The case is excellent. This is truly an exceptional one-of-a-kind 4ES Grade three barrel set Ithaca Classic Double.
