Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 50% original streaked blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The lock and hammer retain 70% original blue finish. The breechblock retains 60% original case colors and the buttplate retains strong original blue finish, mainly on the tang, with a mottled gray patina on the balance and some minor pitting on the heel. The stock is also very fine with a few overall scattered minor dings and scratches. The cartouche is crisp and clear. The markings are clear. The rear sight and barrel band are both later production Model 1884 replacements. The lock plate is a model 1873 marked replacement. The action is excellent. The manual is fine with a detached cover. The cartridge box is very fine showing wear and retaining most of the original finish. Carbine boot is very good, showing cracking and period replacement straps.
