Description:

Manufactured circa 1882-83. Although in the serial number range of the Second Model, this carbine has the First Model features of a 24 inch barrel, forearm without the iron forend cap, no cleaning rod provisions and has the safety/magazine cut-off device on the right side of the stock ahead of the wrist and the saddle ring on the left side. The left side of the receiver wall has the three line address/patent dates. Blade front sight on a square base and adjustable "ski slope" rear sight. Mounted with a smooth half stock with a carbine buttplate. The left side of the buttstock is stamped with approximately 12 "A"s.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 70% original blue finish mixed with a smooth brown patina. The receiver retains 80% thinning original blue finish. The stock is also very good with a few minor dings and dents. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
