Rare Colt Government "Mexican Contract" Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Documentation

This is a beautiful example of an extremely rare pre-war "Mexican Contract" Colt Model 1911A1 commercial pistol as produced in 1926. This specific pistol is accompanied with a Colt factory letter dated, 23 January 2001 that validates this exact pistol, as one of the pistols in a 500 gun shipment that was shipped to the "Arms and Metal Products Company", (probably located in Mexico), For "Sec. de Guerra y Marina", which loosely translate to: The Secretary for War and Navy. These pistol were also specifically required to have the "Seal of the Mexican Government" on the right side of the slide along with: "EJERCITO NACIONAL", which translate to the "National Army". These pistols are of the same configuration as the early WWII military models without the US Government acceptance proofs and were obviously intended for the National Mexican Army. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt two-line patent and address markings without the Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the slide is marked with the Great Seal of the "Government of Mexico", in front of the slide serrations and behind and below the ejection port, with additional, "EJERCITO NACIONAL" National Army, markings stamped below the Colt slide markings of "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE. 45" with the Rampant Colt in front of that. The right side of the frame is marked, "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the "C" prefix serial number (147010). The matching serial number of the pistol is correctly stamped above and below the firing pin hole. The blue barrel is a correct Colt commercial contract version that is unnumbered and has a polished chamber area, and it has the correct early arched checkered mainspring housing, wide checkered Colt hammer, and the checkered slide stop release. It is fitted with a set of beautiful Mother of Pearl grips and is complete with an original two tone magazine.

ConditionNear mint, with 99% of a professionally restored blued finish overall. The original Colt factory markings along with the special order Mexican Government markings are all still sharp and distinct and clearly readable. The grips are also in like new condition with only slight handling marks. Certainly this has to be an extremely rare Colt Commercial pistol as most of the Mexican pistols (of any manufacture) that are imported into this country are in horrible shape or so harshly used that they are not worth restoring, while this example is in really exceptional condition. It would certainly be worth doing more research on this rare Colt Mexican contract pistol.
