Description:

This is a beautiful example of an original, unaltered commercial Model 1906 "American Eagle" Luger as produced by DWM factory. This type of Luger was made expressly by the DWM factory for export to the United States to increase their sales prior to WWI. As noted this Luger has the four inch barrel, versus the smaller, fast tapered .30 Luger barrel typically found on American Eagle Lugers and it is chambered in the desirable "9mm" caliber, which was a relatively new caliber during this time frame. These early commercial Lugers are probably some of the best Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced and all feature excellent fit and finish with beautiful rust blued finish and straw colors on the various smaller parts. This model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the flat toggles, short 4 inch barrel configuration with the distinctive grip safety, and polished lower safety area. This configuration (less the grip safety and polished safety area) eventually became the standard configuration for all future Luger production. The top of the chamber area marked with the large, clear and distinct American Eagle crest over the chamber area with the DWM logo on the front toggle. The extractor is also correctly marked "LOADED" with the correct commercial style full serial number (30253) stamped on the underside of the barrel, and front of the frame with the last two digits of the serial number (53) stamped on the various small parts. The front end of the frame is stamped "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe (to and English speaking country). The pistol is fitted with a set of correct checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a replacement magazine that has an unmarked wooden base. (The correct magazine has "cal 9m/m" script on bottom).

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the original rust blued finish with just a hint of very, very minor edge wear on the some of the parts. The various small parts also retain 98% of their original straw colors showing just a hint of fading on the edges also. The grips are also in excellent condition, with a nice matching dark brown walnut color on both grip panels with excellent sharp/crisp checkering with the right grip showing some very minor compression dents in a coupe of places. An excellent example of a very desirable 9m/m caliber 1906 American Eagle Luger.
