This is a late 1940 production Mauser Luger that has the Mauser Banner marked toggle in the late "x" serial number block. These Police Lugers have always been highly sought after and this is a fine example, complete with matching magazine. The top of the chamber area is dated "40" for the year of manufacture and as noted the front toggle is marked with the "Mauser Banner" logo. These Police Lugers were all pulled from commercial production and lack the military proof and acceptance marks. This one is correctly stamped with only the "Eagle/L" Police proof on the right side of the barrel extension with the Nazi "Eagle/N" proof on the left side, with that same commercial proof on the breechblock. It is correctly fitted with sear safety spring on top of the side plate. The safety and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. This Luger is complete with one all blued, unmarked magazine with the aluminum base that is marked "1/2929/x".
