This is an excellent example of a scarce Winchester Model 1895 Takedown Sporting Rifle that was manufactured in 1927. The rifle has a full blue finish with varnished walnut stock and forearm. The forearm has the distinctive flared tip and the stock has a crescent steel buttplate. The rifle is fitted with a Lyman "Winchester Express" front sight with brass bead, a sporting style rear sight and a Lyman "WR-WT" receiver sight. The top of the receiver is matted. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend "- NICKEL STEEL BARREL-/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER/-.35 W.C.F." below the rear sight. The top of the barrel and receiver are stamped with the Winchester oval "W/P" proofmarks. The Winchester patent dates are stamped in two elongated lines on the left side of the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped "MODEL 95/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S.PAT.OFF & FGN." in three lines. The serial number is stamped on the lower receiver tang.
