Civil War S. Isaac, Campbell & Company Confederate Sword

Starting life as S. Campbell & Company of London, the firm was banned from dealing with the English Government after accusations of corruption, and under the name of Isaac, Campbell & Co nigh-exclusively sold military hardware, including 1853 Pattern Enfield Swords, to the Confederacy at rates well above market, unconcerned with the inevitable usage of the arms or the financial effects of their overvalued sales. Having engaged in heavy speculation in Confederate currency, when the CSA went down, it took Isaac & Company with it. In a section of his book Confederate Edged Weapons, author William A. Albaugh III does not hesitate to call the men a variety of unpleasant names, which shall not be repeated here. Measuring 40 1/2 inches overall, with a 34 1/2 inch single fuller blade, stamped "ISAAC" on the square backed spine. Fitted with a 2-branch iron guard and a pair of checkered leather grip panels.

ConditionFair, showing a deep brown patina overall with mild spotting. Some pitting is concentrated on the guard. The grips are fair, with cracking and material loss.
